Interview: Hefna380 Talks First Single
19 year old, Jersey based rapper Tahrell Lloyd Horne, known as Hefna380, released his first single “I Gotta Go” on September 20th, 2019. His single, originally released on Soundcloud, has gained over 49K plays in two weeks. Hoping to release five more singles by the end of the year, he encourages his supporters to keep listening and sharing his music. Read the interview below:
How did your hometown influence your decision to pursue rapping?
I’m from Manalapan, New Jersey. My boys from there were the only people to listen to snippets of my music and actually support it. I kept recording and they kept encouraging me to drop it, so I did.
At what age did you realize this is what you wanted to do?
Literally, 18. I started rapping in April but I was always heavily into fashion. Gradually, I wanted people to hear my music instead of just seeing photos of me in clothes. I would never think that I would gain the support I have right now.
Who are your biggest influences?
Playboi Carti, I say that all of the time. As a kid, I just used to watch all Carti, everything Carti since my brother saw him live. Hearing him influenced me to work harder, more than anyone else.
What is the story behind your first single, “I Gotta Go?”
I Gotta Go is about fake people who try to f*ck with you when they see that you’re doing good things. It is about girls doing the same, it relates to life a lot.
What advice do you have for someone who wants to pursue a rap career?
Take your time. Since I’m new to this, I had to find my sound and feel comfortable with it. Make sure your first song is what you want to drop first so you make a memorable first impression
Is there anything else you would like people to know?
I just love music. I appreciate everyone for listening and sending videos, all that. It means a lot to me that people are actually listening to something I created, it’s crazy. I’m releasing my next song “Save Me” real soon!
